“Tropical Storm” is built on a hollow, boomy digital bass and cold synth chords. The drums stumble, slightly out of sync with the rest of the track. King Krule’s low, melancholic voice contrasts with Tara Lily’s mystical and quietly captivating timbre. Their voices sit together uneasily, keeping the mood dark and unsettled.

Retro Kid — Think I know
Crisp drums move with the grace of a jaguar, swaying its velvety hips. A massive, swelling organ fills the space like hot water fills a bathtub, and the listener sinks into it, bathing in golden waves of sound.
Then the flute comes in, and the picture begins to warp. Maybe it’s not a bathtub but a spaceship. Or maybe we’re rushing into the depths of our own consciousness. The vocals split and dissolve into atoms. Here we are at the edge of consciousness. But it feels like we’ve never stood this firmly on our feet. Thank you, Retro Kid.
