LISTEN: Jimi Bennett Band — When Love Walks In
Jimi Bennett Band is a trio from Atlanta made up of three musicians with long careers behind them. Singer Jimi Bennett, a songwriter and preacher, founded the Christian rock band Sacred Fire and toured the US with Petra and Mylon LeFevre & Broken Heart. Guitarist John Davis, who studied at Berklee, has had his songs placed on NCIS, Fox and in Mercedes-Benz commercials, and keyboard player Jean Carllos Lemes Miranda spent years in the Brazilian rock band Oficina G3, a Latin GRAMMY winner with eleven albums to his name. "When Love Walks In," which came out on October 17, was recorded in Bennett's home studio. It is a song about faith and about the kind of love that can turn a life around, even after the hardest years.

It's the kind of song that makes you want to take the hands of the people next to you and sing along all together, in praise of how beautiful this world is, of the love people give each other, and of the love God gives us. The guitars here just fountain with joy, and the vocals fountain with inspiration. The production's dense and tight, and it reminds me of the classic pop and rock hits of the 80s (think Journey, Bon Jovi etc.). I can easily imagine it playing in some film that people will keep rewatching for generations. It's built the way songs used to be built, to last, and I believe this one will.
