Joe Nilson is a Dominican songwriter based in New York City who runs his own label, NL Latin Music. For years he wrote songs mostly for other voices, and now he has decided to step up to the microphone himself: "Cuando despiertes con él" is one of the first songs he has released singing his own material. It is a romantic bachata-pop song about loving someone who has chosen another person, and quietly hoping that one day they will realize where their heart really belongs. Joe wrote both the words and the melody and recorded the lead vocal in the studio; the arrangement was built partly with AI tools. The single came out on October 4.
